Cape Town - If centre Jaque Fourie plays for the Springboks in June it would be his first match in over three months.

Fourie, 31, last played for his Japanese club, Kobe Steelers, at the end of February and according to the Rugby365 website, has been training on his own in preparation for the international season.

He came back into the Springbok frame at the end of last year after an absence of around two years.

Fourie played on the Boks' year-end tour to Europe last year and will form part of Heyneke Meyer's squad for June Tests against the World XV, Wales and Scotland.

Fourie is currently in South Africa on holiday and says he can't afford to play in any warm-up matches due to his contract obligations.

He says he would need to pay the Steelers contract insurance if he gets injured so is not willing to risk it. He currently keeps fit by training on his own every day.

Fourie said that playing in the less physical Japanese league has left his 31-year-old body feeling fresher than ever and ready for the demands of Test rugby.
