Cape Town - New Springbok loose forward Nizaam Carr hopes his stellar Test debut was a proper wedding present for his brother.

Carr made his Springbok debut in the 22-6 win over Italy in Padova at the weekend. Coming on as a substitute in the second half, Carr made an immediate impact when he created a try for scrumhalf Cobus Reinach.

Carr touring with the Springboks meant he couldn't attend his brother Riyaaz's wedding on Sunday.

"It's a nice wedding present for my brother," Carr told Netwerk24. "I hope everyone back home enjoyed it. The whole family and our friends watched the game at my parents' home."

Carr replaced Oupa Mohoje in the 57th minute and two minutes later it was his break which led to the spectacular try scored by Reinach.

At the time, the Boks were only leading 8-6 and the game was on a knife edge.

"I saw a little bit of space and attacked it. It (the space) was there for a split second and I reacted fast. The defender tackled me in such a way that I had to off-load in contact. Cobus was behind me in a better position, so I aimed the pass in his direction."

Carr will be hoping to build on his solid performance when the Boks conclude their year-end tour against Wales in Cardiff this Saturday.
