Cape Town - The Springboks' year of woe and misery came to a predictable end with defeat against Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday.

As it happened: Wales v Springboks

Wales won 27-13 after leading 12-6 at half-time.

Wales scored two tries through hooker Ken Owens and flank Justin Tipuric, while fullback Leigh Halfpenny added five penalties and a conversion.

The Springboks replied with a try by debutant flank Uzair Cassiem, two penalties by starting flyhalf Elton Jantjies and a conversion by replacement No 10, Pat Lambie.

The win was Wales' third ever over the Springboks.

Allister Coetzee's team finished the year with four victories and eight defeats from their 12 Tests, and the first winless end of year tour since 2002.

Whether that 33% win-record in 2016 is enough to save Coetzee from the axe will be decided in the coming months.
