Cape Town - Scotland assistant coach Matt Taylor says they know what to expect from the Springboks when the teams clash in Edinburgh on Saturday.

Taylor told The Scotsman he had a close eye on South Arica’s 29-26 win over France in Paris last weekend where the Boks scored a try in the 85th minute to sneak a victory.

“It was an exciting game. I wouldn’t have liked to have been French, but fair dues to South Africa for keeping playing and doing well,” Taylor said.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash at Murrayfield, the Scotland defence guru added: “I think you kind of know what’s coming to a certain degree with South Africa and it’s all about being physical and confrontational and stopping them playing.

“If you do that you’ve got an opportunity to do well and if you don’t you’re going backwards at a rate of knots. We’ll be looking to get up with their line speed and double contact them.”

Scotland will feel confident they can match the Springboks physically, having outmuscled Fiji 54-17 at home last weekend.

Both team line-ups will be announced on Thursday, with Saturday’s Test scheduled for 19:20 (SA time).
