Cape Town - Springbok centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg will play for the Lions against the Waratahs on Saturday, despite the death of his mother earlier in the week.
Janse van Rensburg’s mother, Renthia, passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer.
But the 22-year-old has decided to face the Australians this weekend, dedicating the match in honour of his late mother.
He wrote a heart-warming message on Instagram, where he said his mother was his hero.
There was a time when I was ignorant and arrogant about the people in my life. Yet my eyes opened and I realised who they are to me. My mother went away last night to sit at the feet of Jesus and I can celebrate her life today because I have no regrets. From now on when I live, I live to make her proud and make her smile. Celebrate her life with me and recognise the people in your life today. All glory to God! Mom you Were my Hero. #ThankyouGod ????
Janse Van Rensburg, who made his Test debut against Wales in Cardiff last year, will line up in midfield alongside Harold Vorster.
Saturday’s Super Rugby clash between the Lions and Waratahs at Ellis Park is scheduled for 15:05.
