Cape Town - Under-fire Bulls coach Nollis Marais has been informed of what his future holds at the franchise, and if reports over the weekend are anything to go by, he will be sacked.

According to an article published in Rapport on Sunday, Marais will lose his job at the end of the current Super Rugby season.

While the coach could not comment on the matter following a 51-14 thrashing at Ellis Park against the Lions, he did confirm that he had been in talks with the board and that he knew exactly where he stood.

"The board has been in talks with me this week. I know exactly what is happening," Marais said.

"They will make an announcement as soon as possible. I'm not in the dark at the moment ... I know exactly what is happening down the line. That's all I can say."

Captain Hanro Liebenberg confirmed that the players had also been informed of the plans.

"We've had a meeting during the week where they informed us," Liebenberg said.

"I think that's not an excuse for our performance tonight. It's out of the players' control."

On the performance, Marais acknowledged that the Bulls were beaten by a better team.

"For 20 minutes we made mistakes and they punished us," he said.

"Every time they got the ball they got seven points and they showed what a good side they are. Like all the New Zealand teams, if you make mistakes against them they will punish you."

The Bulls host the Hurricanes on Saturday.
