Cape Town - Cheetahs captain Francois Venter could miss Saturday’s Super Rugby clash against the Sunwolves in Tokyo due to a hamstring injury.

Venter only played 22 minutes of last weekend’s clash against the Hurricanes in Wellington before he was replaced by Niel Marais.

According to Netwerk24, Venter has a grade 1 hamstring tear and a decision regarding his availability will be made later in the week.

Venter has struggled with injuries of late, having missed the first four games of the season due to an ankle injury.

Then, in his first game back, he also suffered a hamstring injury against the Sharks on March 25.

The Cheetahs will be hoping to finish their tour on a high note, having taken heavy beatings in New Zealand - they lost 50-32 to the Blues in Auckland, before being thumped 61-7 by the defending champions last weekend.

The men from Bloemfontein only boast two wins from 12 matches in 2017.

Kick-off for Saturday’s clash at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 07:15 (SA time).
