Port Elizabeth, especially the townships of New Brighton and Zwide, appears to have this bottomless reservoir of loose-forward talent, which keeps feeding South African rugby with backrow Springboks.

The most recent of which, and arguably most famous, is World Cup-winning Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.

But post 1994, both Thando Manana and the late Solly Tyibilika became Springbok loose-forwards who hail from the same township.
