Springbok centre Andre Esterhuizen has been banned for six weeks after he received a red card playing for Harlequins on Saturday.
Esterhuizen was sent off in the 49th minute in a 29-25 win over London Irish after he struck an opponent with his arm during a scuffle off the ball.
The former Sharks centre, who has played eight Tests for the Springboks received the citing under Law 9.12 which refers to punching or striking saying "A player must not strike an opponent with the hand, arm or fist, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s)."
It was his second red card of the season. In December, he was banned for four weeks after lowering an elbow into the face of Gloucester's Lloyd Evans.
The ban means he will miss Harlequins' five remaining league matches and a play-off match (semi-final) should they qualify.
Harlequins currently sit in fourth place in the Premiership Rugby standings.
