Cape Town - The British & Irish Lions returned to winning ways when they beat the Crusaders in a bruising encounter in Christchurch on Saturday.

There were no tries in the match - an almost impossible thought given how dominant the Crusaders have been at home in Super Rugby this year - as the Lions ran out 12-3 winners.

It is a result that will go a long way towards restoring confidence into this group of Lions players ahead of their three-Test series against the All Blacks, especially considering their loss to the Blues in midweek.

The Lions scored their points through four Owen Farrell penalties while The Crusaders slotted one penalty through Richie Mo'unga.

The half-time score was 9-3 in favour of the visitors.

Next up for the Lions is a clash against the Highlanders in Dunedin on Tuesday.
