London - New Zealand-born rugby league convert Ben Te'o will join Worcester Warriors from Leinster next season, the English club said on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old centre switched to the 15-a-side game 14 months ago when he joined the Irish province from the NRL champions South Sydney Rabbitohs.

His signing marks a statement of intent by the Warriors, who only returned to the English Premiership this season after beating Bristol in a play-off at the end of the last campaign.

"Warriors are in a very similar stage in their playing and cultural development that I found when I first joined the Rabbitohs," Te'o said.

"I look forward to making a similar contribution at Sixways."

Warriors head coach Dean Ryan said he has no fears about Te'o's ability to excel in union as he did in league, where he represented Samoa.

"Ben is a really exciting talent and has proved he is more than capable of transferring his skills from league to union," said Ryan.

"His experience and power in the centre will add further depth to our midfield and we're looking forward to him joining up with the side."
