Cape Town - Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie has hit out at the section of supporters who choose criticism over encouragement when it comes to the national team.

The South Africa international has endured his fair share of animosity from Bafana fans, falling victim to boos and jeers when it came to missing chances in the final third of the pitch.

The Bournemouth forward, though, pointed to Sunday's clash between Germany and Poland as evidence of how fans should treat the players, with Marco Reus missing a decent chance, but receiving only encouraging applause from the home fans.

Rantie took to Twitter to vent his frustrations, posting: "If Marco Reus was playing for bafana they would have booed him GERvsGEO... But he's playing for a nation that understands football, the fans encourage him."

When asked about his social media post, the Bafana striker told KickOff: "Because I missed the same chance a while ago and I was booed."
