Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has unveiled his technical team for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Scotsman was reported to have wanted former Bafana Bafana and Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune as his second in command with Mark Fish also taking up a role in the national team setup.

However, that was not the case as Baxter announced Molefe Ntseki (assistant), Andre Arendse (goalkeeper coach), Josh Smith (physical coach) and Thulani Ngwenya (team doctor) as the names who will sit shoulder-to-shoulder in Bafana Bafana's technical area in Egypt.

"The technical, obviously Molefe [Ntseki] who has been outstanding with me. I have to say sometimes the assistant is there, but not there to you guys. But Molefi has been great for me when we are in camp. We discuss things," said Baxter as quoted by KickOff website.

"He does not just listen and say 'yes' We try very much to speak the same language with the players, even though his language is a little bit difficult for me to understand sometimes. But he has been brilliant and he will continue," Baxter said.

"We’ve got Josh Smith as the physical coach and Andre Arendse as the goalkeeper coach. Then Thulani [Ngwenya] will be the team doctor and is a credit to his profession and we enjoy having him."

The continental showpiece kicks off on 21 June, and Baxter has wasted little time in announcing his provisional 30-man squad, with that number set to be whittled down to 23 players 10 days before the start of the competition.

Bafana get their tournament started against the Ivory Coast on Monday, June 24 in Cairo before playing at the same venue on Friday, June 28 against Namibia.

They then round off the group stage with a match against Morocco on Monday, July 1.
