Cape Town - Dubai-based Airline company Emirates on Thursday shed light on Bafana Bafana's flight complications that forced the South African men's national team to delay their departure ahead of AFON 2019.
Stuart Baxter's side were forced to delay their departure for Dubai by 24 hours and left on Tuesday morning at 10:00am instead of Monday.
Several players’ flight bookings were different from the rest of the squad and due to the unforeseen issue, the entire Bafana Bafana team had to remain stagnant at the O.R Tambo International Airport before they could board their flight.
"Emirates is aware of the matter concerning the South African men's national football team’s (Bafana Bafana) flight bookings. The team made their travel arrangements with their own booking agent, who booked them on different flights due to late confirmation of the bookings and a subsequent limited capacity on the designated flight," an Emirates spokesperson said.
Bafana will face Ghana in a friendly on Friday before taking on Angola.
Kick-off is at 13:00.
