Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs chairperson Kaizer Motaung has lauded the appointment of Stuart Baxter as the new Bafana Bafana head coach.

This came following a frustrating period of endless searching, since the sacking of Shakes Mashaba in November last year, by the South African Football Associations (SAFA).

The country’s football governing body is set to unveil the outgoing SuperSport United mentor at the SAFA House in Nasrec on Monday.

Motaung, 75, believes that the English born tactician will do a sterling job at the helm of the national team but that he will require adequate support from the South African football fraternity.

Motaung also insisted that for Baxter to prosper at the helm it would require a strong technical team by his side as Bafana aim to qualify for both the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Russia as well as the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

“I think he is okay and perfect for the Bafana Bafana job,” said Motaung.

“But obviously it will also depend on the technical team he puts together. Because today football is not only about the coach but also the technical team.

“We have the sports scientists, the team doctors and the likes. We have all kind of things.

“So it is not going to be an easy task for him but hopefully he will get enough support. Let’s wait and see.”

“Chuck Norris” as Baxter is affectionately known will begin his first assignment with an away trip to Nigeria in the AFCON qualifier next month.
