Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane says he still has hopes of receiving more call-ups to the Bafana Bafana squad in future.

Mpontshane was called up to the national team for the AFCON qualifier matches against Sudan and Nigeria last year, while he was still on the books of Platinum Stars.

But a move to Pirates has seen the keeper's career stagnating, Mpontshane having played only around 10 matches for the Buccaneers.

He is however remaining upbeat over his international future.

"You need to believe in yourself and I have never lost hope of getting selected for Bafana Bafana again. I am a believer. I always believe that good things will come to people with patience. That keeps me going," Mpontshane told Soccer Laduma.

He continued: "Like I've said, I have never lost hope of being selected for Bafana. I will keep on working hard at Pirates and wait for my chance to come.

"I won't lose hope of representing my country at national level one day because of my limited game-time at Pirates. In football such things happen. I just have to be patient and keep on working hard."
