Cape Town - Carlos Queiroz is expected to be announced by the South African Football Association (SAFA) as the new Bafana Bafana head coach on Friday.

Queiroz, the former Iran national team coach is believed to be the first choice for the post after SAFA reportedly trimmed the candidate list down to two names.

According to the SowetanLIVE website, Herve Renard and Carlos Queiroz were said to be the only choices for the Bafana Bafana hot seat.

Queiroz, who previously coached Bafana Bafana between 2000-2002, was strongly linked to the position after declaring his interest in returning to take over the reigns.

SAFA will have to cough up around R20m to pin down Queiroz into a deal as that is the estimated amount the former Manchester United assistant coach earned as Iran head coach.

Reports suggest that Queiroz’s representatives will want SAFA to either match or better the sum he earned in the Middle East.

Queiroz in the past received high praise from Alex Ferguson during his time at the Red Devils, with the Scotsman lauding the impact that his then assistant made to modernising United's training methods.
