Cape Town - Sport24 ran a day-long poll on Twitter asking readers who should be blamed for Bafana Bafana's poor showing in recent games.

The final results are rather fascinating.

South Africa suffered a goalless home draw against Libya in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E qualifier at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

This sparked the conversation whether or not the senior national side will miss the chance of playing on Africa's biggest stage.

The national team have a dismal AFCON qualifying record as they have only qualified for ONE of the last FIVE tournaments.

Bafana Bafana have also last played at World Cup in 2010 which South Africa hosted.

The last two editions Bafana Bafana under-performed during their qualifying campaigns with political and coaching issues following the national team.

Sport24 asked the public on Twitter: Who should take the blame for Bafana Bafana's poor showing in recent games?

Of the four options, head coach Stuart Baxter received only 8% of the vote despite it being his second stint as the national teams mentor.

16% believes that the South African Football Association (SAFA) should take accountability for Bafana Bafana's performances while 29% thinks that it is high time the players shoulder some of the blame.

Baden Gillion wrote an interesting article on how South Africa are being left behind by world football and having taken that into account, the public strongly believes that 47% of the above mentioned is the reason Bafana Bafana are suffering.
