After being denied top spot in their Champions League group by Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane said he hopes to avoid Juventus in Monday's last-16 draw.

A late equalizer by Marco Reus gave the German club a 2-2 draw and top spot in Group F after Karim Benzema scored a brace for the hosts and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 2-1.

"We wanted to win the group and gave everything to do that, but we did not achieve it," Zidane said. "We are not going to go over it any more, we finish second and we will see the draw on Monday."

"I would say the worst to get is Juve - for two reasons - but we can do nothing now, just watch on Monday like everyone else," the former Juventus star said.

Zidane said he became frustrated over his team's second-half performance.

"On the pitch when you see how the second half was going, the end of the game, you can get a bit annoyed. We had the game in our hand, but we dropped intensity a bit."

"But this is football, you must concentrate until the end. The first goal they scored put them back in the game. We had chances to score the third. I will analyse the game coolly and we will look at it."

Benzema said he was disappointed at finishing second in the group, but said they were in a good position to win the trophy.

Benzema told BeIn after the game that the difference between first and second was not a reason for concern.

"The objective was to win the group, but to win the Champions League it does not matter if you finish first or second" in the group stages, Benzema said.

"For me it was important to score, but I am disappointed with the result. We wanted to win the game, but we knew we were up against a good team."

He admitted to being unhappy with his form heading into the game after going scoreless in La Liga since October.

"To score was important for me, it is for everyone. I was unhappy with my own performances. I always want to give my best and I am upset when I cannot help the team."
