Cape Town - Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is convinced he will make it at the Premier League champions, despite playing second fiddle to Diego Costa in his first season.

The 23-year-old Belgium international has endured a frustrating season for the Blues since his £33.2 million transfer and has scored just seven goals in 26 games - with most of those appearances coming off the bench.

Batshuayi only made his first start in the Premier League in their 4-3 win over Watford on Monday, and scored just three days after netting the winning goal at West Bromwich Albion that helped them secure the league title last week.

Despite his troubles, the Standard Leige youth product was confided that he will succeed in the Premier League.

“There were a lot of frustrations, but this is a big club, with a lot of good players,” he was quoted by The Guardian.

“I need to understand it a bit too. I am a bit younger than some of the other guys. I can only keep on working hard. We have a very good squad, with lots of good players. Lovely and humble lads too.

“Chelsea feels like a big family. When you can work in those conditions, day on, day out, that is magnificent.Of course, there were frustrations because I did not play a lot. So enjoying myself with the teammates was not always that simple.

“But I also understood that I had some work to do. I am happy. My teammates have always been supporting me. They encouraged me to grab my chance and advised me not to let my head down.

"I have made a lot of progress. As a man, mentally, but also physically," the former Marseille forward added. “And tactically too. That is a given with a manager like Antonio Conte. He likes you to work, work, work. Every day."

Batshuayi will now be hoping he can get a chance to impress Conte ahead of the May 27th FA Cup Final against London rivals Arsenal at Wembley.
