Cape Town - Swansea City manager Paul Clement has revealed that the club will attempt to sign John Terry when his Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season.

Terry has insisted in the past that no decision has been taken on his next destination, although he has been linked with a possible switch to Arsenal in recent weeks.

But, despite this, Clement says he will try to bring the 36-year-old former England captain to Wales.

"The fact is I know John, he is a top player and a free agent," Clement, a former member of the Blues coaching staff, told FourFourTwo.

"So it would only be sensible to have a discussion with him to see if he would be interested. I don't know if he has already decided on somewhere else. A lot of the time these things are already done.

"But if that is not the case and he would be open to a conversation, then I would be open to that as well."

In January, Clement attempted to sign another Chelsea legend in Frank Lampard, but the midfielder opted to hang up his boots instead after a stint in Major League Soccer with New York City FC.
