Cape Town - Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has again expressed his concern regarding the club's lack of signings ahead of the new Premier League season.

The English top-flight gets underway at the weekend, with the Blues preparing to take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge, but Conte isn't feeling overly confident.

The defending Premier League champions have added only four new signings, while the likes of Nemanja Matic, John Terry, Nathan Ake, Juan Cuadrado, Asmir Begovic, and Nathaniel Chalobah have left. Meanwhile, star striker Diego Costa is also headed for the exit.

The transfer movements at Chelsea is concerning to Conte, who believes it will be tough to stay at the top without strengthening the squad.

Asked if it will be difficult to win the title again without adding more players, the Italian tactician told Sky Sports: “Yes, for sure. This league is not easy.

“Six teams are very strong and you must be prepared. I hope to be able to improve our squad.

“The transfer market is not finished. We want to be competitive and we want to fight for the title again. The club knows my priorities.

“It won't be easy. It's a great challenge for us to try and retain the title but we are working hard.”
