Conte talks with Chelsea 'positive'

Cape Town - Italy boss Antonio Conte could be named as Chelsea's new manager within the next two weeks, according to reports.

Conte's representatives have begun talks with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia who is leading the recruitment process, with a three-year deal currently the topic of discussion. It has been reported that the initial talks were "very positive".

The former Juventus boss is in line to become the 10th manager to work under Blues owner Roman Abramovich since the Russian billionaire bought the London club from Ken Bates in 2004.

No compensation will be required to secure Conte's services as his contract with the Italian Football Federation expires after this summer's European Championships.

It is believed that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is the only other candidate to replace interim boss Guus Hiddink.

The Dutchman has no plans to continue in the role he took up in December following Jose Mourinho's dismissal, having stated that he will retire from management at the end of the season.
