Cape Town - Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson believes he has enough ability with his feet to do a decent job as a Premier League midfielder.

The Brazilian signed for Pep Guardiola's side from Benfica in July last year and has noticeably improved their defence with both his shot-stopping and distribution skills.

"When I played in the Benfica youth teams, they would always call me to play in midfield if someone was missing and I didn't ever embarrass myself,” he said in an interview with FourFourTwo.

"So, if necessary I’m definitely up to the task. It wouldn’t be easy, especially in the Premier League, but I think I could manage the challenge."

The 24-year-old has also managed to keep 12 clean sheets in 26 Premier League starts, and has praised the work done by his teammates in helping him feel comfortable on the ball.

"There are so many good players in this team who are ahead of me," he added. "I was always comfortable with the ball at my feet, and this helps me during games. I think it's a natural talent."
