Cape Town - West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster believes the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur provides the Baggies with a great foundation for further improvement.

The West Midlands outfit took the lead at Wembley Stadium in the fourth minute on Saturday as Salomon Rondon found the back of the net. However, they were denied victory by Harry Kane, who equalised for Spurs in the 74th minute.

Despite missing out on three points, Foster was pleased with the result especially after losing four consecutive games, which led to the sacking of manager Tony Pulis.

Foster told the press, according to the club's official website: "It was a shame (we couldn't hold on) but we're absolutely delighted, it's a really good point.

"It's a tough place to come and get anything. There'll be a lot of teams who come here and get absolutely pumped.

"It's a good place to start and we can build from this. We've got a few games coming up now that we've got to look to get three points from."

West Brom welcome Newcastle United on Tuesday evening to the Hawthorns for a midweek Premiership clash.

Kick off is at 22:00.
