Cape Town - Goalkeeper Joe Hart admits that there is a high chance he will never play for Manchester City again and believes his future lies away from the Etihad Stadium.

The England international is currently on loan with Torino in the Serie A, after new City boss Pep Guardiola said at the start of the season that he needed a keeper that was better on the ball than Hart and the Citizens ended up signing Claudio Bravo from Barcelona

The 29-year-old has become a key player for Torino this term and has helped them secure a respectable sixth place in the current league standings, while they also advanced the the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia with a thumping 4-0 win over Pisa on Tuesday.

In a frank conversation with Soccer Saturday, the shot stopper admitted for the first time that his future in the game likely lies away from Manchester City.

"This is the second time I've gone out on a season-long loan," he said. "I've not been sent here to see how I do or see if I improve. I've been sent out because I wasn't wanted.

"I'm not here to prove what I can do, I'm here because I need to look elsewhere and I didn't have a chance to sort anything permanently.

"The way I look at it, I want to do as well as I can for Torino and, if somebody comes in for me, I don't think Manchester City are going to stand in my way."

He also revealed that Guardiola made it clear from a very early stage that the goalkeeper was not part of the Spaniard's plans.

"I came in after the other players because of the Euros, and when we first had a conversation he said he had his reservations about me," he added.

"I shook his hand, I said it was professionally honest, but not what I wanted to hear. I'm up for a fight but you've got to be clever and pick your battle. It was the opinion of a guy who has got a lot of power at the club and I wasn't on the right side of it."

Since Hart's departure, City have made a good start to the season and are third in the English Premiership standings, just one point off leaders Chelsea who they next welcome to the Etihad Stadium.

Kick off is at 14:30.
