Cape Town - Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe admits he expected much more from club record signing Jordan Ibe this season after an ineffective performance in their FA Cup exit on Saturday.

The 3-0 loss to Millwall at the Den in the third round was the winger's 12th start of the season and the former Liverpool man has yet to register a single goal or assist in any competition.

In 15 appearances since his £15million transfer from The Reds, the 21-year-old has only been involved in 17 chances with a dismal shot accuracy of 20%, which has seen him drop to the bench in recent weeks.

Nonetheless, the Cherries boss feels there's still room for improvement for the England youth international and the rest of the fringe players, who also failed to make the most of their opportunity against the League One outfit.

"He hasn't been a regular in the team and that will be a disappointment for him and for us," he said after the game.

"I still feel there's a lot of potential in there, but obviously he's got to fulfil that when he gets chances.

"We picked players that we haven't seen regularly in the Premier League, we gave them an opportunity to express themselves.

"Individually they are very good players so I was excited to see it. Obviously the reality proved different."

Bournemouth next face a trip to the Kingston Communications Stadium where they will face relegation strugglers Hull City in a league fixture this Saturday.

Kick off is at 17:00.
