Cape Town - Brighton manager Chris Hughton admits his charges need to start earning points away from home if they intend to stave off relegation from the Premier League.

The Seagulls have managed only eight points on the road this season while claiming 15 at the Amex Stadium, and Hughton believes more away points will be necessary to fight relegation.

Hughton told The Argus: "Wherever they come from my thought process hasn't really changed. Ultimately you have to get enough points.

"We have drawn a lot of games at home. I thought we were good at Newcastle (0-0) but weren’t able to score and, of course, the away victories at Swansea and West Ham were very good victories.

"But we have to get points and some of them will have to be away from home."

Brighton have dropped to 16th position after the 2-0 defeat against West Brom at the Hawthorns. They are only three points clear of the relegation zone and will host defending champions Chelsea on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 14:30 (SA time).
