Cape Town - Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho hailed Manchester City's 2-1 victory over local rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday as a dream come true after he scored the winning goal.

For most of the first half Pep Guardiola's side dominated proceedings and Kevin de Bruyne put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute before Iheanacho doubled their advantage 21 minutes later.

United were given a life-line shortly before the interval when a Claudio Bravo howler handed Zlatan Ibrahimovic a goal, although ultimately the Swede's strike had no impact on the result.

Having starting Saturday's match in the place of the suspended Sergio Aguero, the 19-year-old Iheanacho couldn't hide his elation.

"It means it all to me. It is a dream come true to play in the Manchester derby, and to get a winning goal. I am very, very happy for everyone," Iheanacho told Sky Sports.

"It is a great day for me and for the team, for everyone."

For City's opener, an Iheanacho flick-on played De Bruyne into space and the Belgian finished expertly. On 36 minutes the two combined again, after De Bruyne's shot cannoned off the post and fell to the Nigerian's feet and he made no mistake with his finish from close range.

"It was about being in the right place at the right time," he continued.

"I didn't anticipate the shot, actually, I didn't think it was going to hit the post."
