Cape Town - Nigerian teenager Alex Iwobi has reportedly been rewarded with a new Arsenal contract that will keep him at The Emirates Stadium until 2021.
The 19-year-old made his first-team debut in October 2015 and he has become a regular in the side in recent weeks as he has been in the starting XI in four of the last five games.
Manager Arsene Wenger has made no secret of the fact that he has been impressed by the youngster's progress and has handed him a new five-year contract.
"He's worked with us since the start of the season and he has grown, gained confidence and when he came in he had an impact straight away," Wenger told the club's website.
"You cannot cheat people. They’ve seen how quickly he’s improved and how well he’s played. It’s surprising how quickly he’s integrated into our game."
Iwobi's latest contract extension comes less than six months after he signed a £10,000-a-week deal that was due to run until 2019 and his new pay packet will reportedly increase to £30 000-a-week.
