Graeme Souness says Liverpool could find their title charge easier this season after watching Manchester City thrashed 5-2 by Leicester City on Sunday.

Jamie Vardy grabbed a hat-trick as the Foxes came from behind at the Etihad Stadium to stun Pep Guardiola’s men 5-2 and storm to the top of the Premier League.

It was the first time Guardiola had seen one of his teams concede five goals in his glittering managerial career and was all the more frustrating after they dominated the early stages.

However, Souness thinks the Reds – who play Arsenal tonight – have "strengthened big time" with the Scot tipping his former club to win the title at a canter again.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Souness said: "Liverpool won by 18 points (last season). Liverpool in my opinion have strengthened big time.

"I look at City now whether Ruben Dias comes in, it'll have to be more than Dias to take City from 18 points behind Liverpool to getting in front of them.

"Liverpool are stronger today than they were 12 months ago. That's a marker, when you look at what City have shown.

"After all the teams we've seen that can challenge, it's Leicester after today but we're three games in.

"Some players need five or six (games) to get up to speed. But right now, I think Liverpool could run away with it."
