Cape Town - Fernando Llorente is planning to resurrect his international career with Spain by excelling for Swansea in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Welsh club last week after ending his stay at Juventus, where he netted seven goals in 38 appearances over two seasons.

Llorente made his debut for the Swans in a 1-0 friendly win over Rennes at the weekend, and says he feels wanted at the Liberty Stadium and is also looking forward to linking up with compatriots Jordi Amat and Angel Rangel.

"This team wanted me a lot and I want to be here. I want to play in the Premier League and know the Premier League. This [Swansea] is a good team to play in, in the Premier League," the Spaniard said.

"I am very happy to have Jordi and Angel here who can help me a lot. This team is very important for me. I need to work hard because I have not played for a few months and this is the important thing, to work and work and work in training to make sure I play very well."

Llorente has played 24 times for La Furia Roja, scoring 24 goals, but has been out of the picture since after 2014 World Cup. However, he is optimistic that he can force his way back into the national-team set-up.

"I would like to get back into the national side, and I know that I will need to play well for Swansea all season if I want to do that. I would like to return to play for Spain, it would be a very special thing for me," he added.
