Cape Town - Manchester United were dealt yet another injury blow after Anthony Martial injured his hamstring prior to last night's match against Midtjylland.

Fortunately for the Red Devils, Martial's injury had little impact on the night as they comfortably defeated their Danish opponents 5-1 to progress to the next stage of the Europa League 6-3 on aggregate.

The star of the night was Martial's last-minute replacement, 18-year-old debutant Marcus Rashford who introduced himself to the Old Trafford faithful by bagging a brace.

The injury could, however, leave United incredibly short ahead of their match against title-challengers Arsenal on the weekend. Martial was expected to start up front against the Gunners, with Wayne Rooney already out injured.

Speaking after the match, manager Louis van Gaal was optimistic the injury was not a serious one. "I think he is smart and wise to step out, because it was not a rupture, it was a tight hamstring. I don't think it is very heavy."

In addition to Martial, Manchester United were without Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Will Keane, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and David De Gea last night.
