N'Jie eager to prove his worth at Spurs

Cape Town - Tottenham attacker Clinton N'Jie is determined to "prove to fans" what a good player he is as he continues his recovery from injury.

The Cameroonian joined Spurs from Lyon in August 2015, but he made only 13 appearances before he suffered a serious knee injury in December, which required surgery on his medial collateral ligament.

His recovery is on track and he still hopes to have an impact for the North London outfit this season, especially with Spurs just five points behind leaders Leicester City in the English Premier League and up against Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Europa League.

"It's important for me to come back and join the team because they're doing a great job," the 23-year-old said.

"Mentally it hasn't been easy. It's been tough but I've been working very, very hard with the doctors and medical staff to get myself fit.

"Injuries happen, so I've just been looking forward to coming back stronger. I can see the good job the guys are doing and I can't wait to get back onto the pitch and be part of it.

"It's important that I'm still hungry, I still want to play and I still want to prove to the fans what I can do so, for me, I just want to get back fit and do a good job."
