Cape Town - Danish
play-maker Christian Eriksen says he can see himself performing at the
'highest level', and that this may not necessarily be with Tottenham.
The 25-year-old, fresh off another remarkable season of providing the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli with goal scoring opportunities, has long been the subject of transfer speculation, with many believing that the player is ready for an opportunity at a bigger club.
Amongst these is Eriksen's former manager at Ajax, Frank de Boer.
“I think he’s ready for a step higher," the former Barca defender continued.
"He has all that a Barcelona player must have. He has an overview, he has a working ethic, and he kicks well with both legs.”
In an interview with Ekstra Bladet, the player himself also gave an indication that he sees a future where he is competing for bigger honours than the Premier League but remained respectful of his agreement with Spurs.
“I still have a contract with Tottenham a few more years,” Eriksen said.
“There are always rumours about footballers, but Barcelona are a great club and I don’t think there are many who say no to Barcelona.
“In the future, I see myself at the highest level. That’s what I dream about. It can be in about two to three years. It may be at another club or it could be Tottenham if we have come all the way up,” he added.
