Cape Town - Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has confirmed that Loic Remy picked up a thigh injury to rule him out of this weekend's Premier League clash with Middlesbrough.

The 29-year-old striker, on loan from Chelsea, sustained the problem in training on Monday and could be out for up to two months.

This setback comes just a week after the France international made the short switch to Selhurst Park from Stamford Bridge.

Pardew told reporters: "Unfortunately, Loic got injured on Monday and the seriousness of that, I don't know. But he's not going to be involved this weekend, so it's a bit of a blow.

"But you have to remember he hasn't had a lot of football so he's going pick up strains and knocks until we harden him up a little bit.

"He's just got a little thigh strain. I don't know how long he's out for, but he's had a scan on Tuesday morning and I'll know more on Thursday."

Remy failed to impress new Blues boss Antonio Conte on his arrival at the west London club, having previously been dogged by injuries and was shipped out on loan to make way for Michy Batshuayi, who was signed from Marseille.
