Fiorentina chief executive officer Joe Barone has suggested that there are clubs in England showing interest in the services of winger Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa, who began his career in Fiorentina's youth teams, was promoted to the first team in July 2016 and has progressed in the Serie A since.

The Italian was handed his international debut in March 2018 - earning a further 17 caps to date - and he has scored seven goals while assisting five others in 26 appearances this season.

Chiesa's best run of form saw him score four goals in five Serie A games and a previous report claimed that that spell persuaded United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to send his senior scout to watch his next performance.

And while Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso later suggested that Chiesa could stay, Barone has now outlined that he will weigh up the interest in the player when the time comes.

"Chiesa is a Fiorentina player," Barone told Gazzetta dello Sport (via Goal). "There are clubs knocking at the door for Chiesa, some of them who speak English.

"We'll see, for the moment we just need to finish the season and he is very concentrated on doing well for us."

With the Italian top-flight suspended since the middle of March, the majority of Serie A clubs voted on Wednesday for the action to resume on June 13.

The announcement follows the precedent of the top two tiers in Germany, which are set to kick off this weekend with matches including a derby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.
