Raiola: Pogba should have cost €200m

Cape Town - Paul Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has claimed Manchester United should have paid in the region of €200m to secure the midfielder's signature, rather than €105m.

Pogba's fee was a world record at the time, but he has fallen out of favour at the Red Devils less than two years after his transfer from Serie A giants Juventus.

Jose Mourinho left him on the bench for their 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton after bringing him on as a substitute for the 2-1 Champions League last 16 defeat to Sevilla.

Nevertheless, Raiola feels that the price at which the French international was sold was, in fact, a bargain for United.

“As long as the television rights keep going up, the players deserve to be paid more,” Raiola told Dutch magazine Quote.

“I don’t push prices over the limit. On the contrary, look at Pogba’s transfer. Manchester United paid €100m – but I think they should have paid €200m.

“Pogba was a cheap player. He had a clause in his contract that said he alone – and not Juventus – was allowed to decide where he was going to play next season.”

The midfielder left English shores in 2012 after playing just three league games under Sir Alex Ferguson, but earned a move back to Old Trafford with his impressive performances in Serie A.

Whether or not he will be afforded the chance to stay at the club for an extended period and live up to Raiola's claim remains to be seen.

Pogba, 25, has scored eight goals in 52 Premier League appearances.
