Cape Town - Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri believes that the talent in the current squad will go on to become a real force in English football.

The Swiss international winger joined the Potters after an ill-fated spell at Inter Milan, and joined a host of players with experience at the highest level of club football.

Shaqiri won the tournament with his former club, Bayern Munich in 2013, while the likes of Bojan Krkic, Ibrahim Afellay
and Marc Muniesa have Champions league winners medals in their collections from their time with Barcelona.

Marko Arnautovic, who was also part of a Champions league winning squad at Internazionale under Jose Mourinho in 2010, has formed a deadly trio with the likes of Bojan and Shaqiri this season, filling the diminutive forward with optimism about the club's future prospects.

"We have a very good team," the 24-year old told the Daily Mirror.

"I don't want to say this year we can make the Champions League, but we have the quality to get into Europe.

"The way this club is going forward then, of course, soon this club will want to play in the Champions League.

"We are playing good football and that is the first step. We are in a good way and I'm sure that very soon we can aim for the Champions League."
