London - Huddersfield Town were unable to overcome a 10-men Swansea City side as their Premiership clash at The John Smith's Stadium ended goalless.

Swansea were dealt a massive blow with Jordan Ayew unlucky to be red carded with barely 10 minutes played.

But the away side managed to withstand a barrage of attacks from Huddersfield to emerge from this Premier League clash with a well-earned point.

Swansea started brightly with Sam Clucas swinging in an early free-kick that was just ahead of Mike van der Hoorn before Tom Ince put his effort just wide of the target as Huddersfield broke at the other end.

Steve Mounie was off target with shot from 12 yards as the Terriers began to assert themselves in this tie.

Astonishingly though, the away side were reduced to 10 men with just 11 minutes on the clock as Ayew saw red for a high challenge on Jonathan Hogg.

Van La Parra was wide on 17 minutes as he cut inside to work space for a shot as Alex Pritchard fired well wide from range.

Swansea found themselves pegged back as Huddersfield attacked relentlessly although without much joy, as Ince headed wide, before an Aaron Mooy cross was flicked on by Mounie, however, his touch saw the ball loop over the goal with Lukasz Fabianski beaten.

Despite the man advantage, the home side were rarely threatened. Hogg was wide with a long-range shot before Van der Hoorn failed to make connection when unmarked in the box for a rare chance for Swansea.

Normal service was soon resumed, and Mounie fired into the side-netting following a swift break forward ahead of an excellent save from Fabianski to tip a Mounie volley onto the bar.

Florent Hadergjonaj wasn't far off with his 25-yard shot as he latched onto a neat Mooy ball from the corner, but despite constantly peppering the Swans goal, there was seemingly no way through for David Wagner's side.

Ince came as close as anyone to scoring with a downward header that rifled off a post for what proved the last real chance of an entertaining tie and a massive defensive display from Carlos Carvalhal's charges.
