Cape Town - Chelsea captain John Terry remains hopeful that he will be rewarded for his loyalty to the club by being offered a new deal before the end of the season.

Terry has been part of the setup at Stamford Bridge since joining the youth program as a teenager back in 1995, but the 35-year-old's contract expires at the conclusion of this season.

The central defender hopes he will be offered an extension by the Blues and is adamant he still has a lot to offer, whether it is at Chelsea or another club.

"I am still very hopeful," he told Sky Sports.

"I have been there 21 years and I will never give up until it finally happens. But who knows?

"I have still got a lot to give - whether that is here or somewhere else - that is for sure."

Terry also praised the impact of temporary manager Guus Hiddink, who has lost just once since he took over from Jose Mourinho in December last year.

"Guus has been phenomenal since he's come in. Not only this time, but last time in 2009 as well," he added.

"We can only focus on that and what he's doing at the moment. But he's doing a fantastic job, as are the players at the moment."
