Three Chinese clubs target Chelsea's Terry

Cape Town - Three Chinese clubs are vying to sign Chelsea skipper John Terry, according to reports in the United Kingdom.

Terry has been limited to just two appearances since suffering an ankle injury in September, with the 35-year-old unable to force his way into Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 set-up.

That has alerted the attention of several Chinese Super League sides, who could fulfil Terry’s ambition to prolong his career.

Speculation has suggested that Shanghai Shenhua, Shanghai SIPG and Guangzou Evergrande are interested in the former England captain, with the trio all boasting Chelsea connections.

Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet took charge of Shenhua earlier this week, while SIPG and Guangzou are managed by ex-Stamford Bridge bosses Andre Villas-Boas and Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Terry penned a new 12 month contract at Chelsea last summer, but confirmed earlier this week that he wants to play for another two seasons.

"I still want to play for a couple more years - whether that is here at Chelsea or somewhere abroad, I don't know," he said.

"I am contracted to Chelsea for this season and then will see after that. I'm doing my coaching badges. I don't know if I want to be a coach, but I want to do my badges and pass."
