Cape Town - Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly keen to bring a new striker to the club when the January transfer window opens.

Nuno's side have impressed so far this season, after earning promotion to the Premier League last term, and occupy ninth position in the standings after winning four of their last six games.

However, the Portuguese coach remains eager to bolster his squad in 2019 as he aims to take the team to the next level, and the Telegraph have reported that a quality striker will be his first signing.

Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell said: “We are getting reports on approximately 5 000 players a month – it's becoming a big process.

“We are not just crossing our fingers and hoping we can get the very best out of him or make something out of someone.

“It makes it very exciting to be searching through a high quantity of players. We are still some way from making hard and fast decisions (about January).

“The windows are very tough but I'm not complaining.”
