Cape Town - Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has admitted that he has not done as well as expected during his first season with the club, reports Football411.

The former Blaugrana midfielder took charge at the start of the campaign, and though his side currently occupy second on the Primera Liga table, their performances have often been uninspired.

"People tell me they have confidence in me. I'm not sure if I've hit the nail on the head, we'll see at the end of the season,” AS reports Enrique as saying.

“To come to Barca I have had to work for five seasons. I am taking my opportunity and remaining true to my principles.

“I'm sure I could be doing a lot better but I could also be doing a lot worse. But I think we are on the right lines, I like what I have seen so far."

Enrique’s side struggled to a 1-0 win against mid-tabled Valencia on Sunday and would have slumped to their second draw of the season if not for Sergio Busquets’ late winner.

Barca face SD Huesca in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and will be hoping for an improved performance.

Enrique said he could rest several key players for the match, while star midfielder Andres Iniesta will miss out due to injury.
