Zurich - FIFA has extended its sponsorship deal with Visa until the 2022 Soccer World Cup, Sepp Blatter, president of world football's governing body, announced on Tuesday.

The deal, sealed five months before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, secures Visa global marketing rights for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 edition in Qatar.

Visa first became a FIFA partner in 2007 ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Blatter, welcoming the deal, said: "We're delighted to have reached this agreement with our valued partner, Visa."
