Paris - Confederation of African Football president Issa Hayatou wants Morocco to suffer a four-year suspension after they were stripped of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Morocco were set to host the tournament in January and February next year but demanded a postponement over fears of the spread of Ebola.

CAF then stripped them of the hosting rights and kicked the national team out of the competition.

"The rules are clear," Hayatou told Radio France Internationale (RFI).

"You will remember that in 1996 Nigeria boycotted the Africa Cup of Nations after the country's president had prevented them from going to South Africa. They were suspended for four years.

"There cannot be double standards."

On Friday, Equatorial Guinea stepped in to rescue the 2015 tournament which will be staged from January 17-February 8.
