Cape Town - Despite the loss in the annual Macufe Cup, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka believes his team got something out of the match.

Bloemfontein Celtic trumped Chiefs 1-0 courtesy of a 62nd-minute strike from Tshegofatso Mabaso.

Chiefs' technical team gave the supporting cast a chance to impress in the match - opting to give some of the regular players a break.

Maluleka, who has not been a regular in coach Steve Komphela's starting XI, was grateful for the chance to play.

"It's always good to have such games during the FIFA break. It was good we played in the Macufe Cup because it also made sure that we kept active while the other teams were on a break," Maluleka told Soccer Laduma.

"It gave the chance to almost everyone to play and show what they are capable of doing at the team. As Kaizer Chiefs we want to win every game we play in and it was sad we lost against Celtic in the Macufe Cup."
