Cape Town - Thabo Senong, Bafana Bafana’s assistant coach, believes that PSL clubs and their scouts have been slow to recognise the major talent of Siphelele Ntshangase.

Senong and Shakes Mashaba were widely criticised for handing national team caps to players from the NFD like Ntshangase, but they have been steadfast in their belief that quality, and not the club or league in which a players plays, is what should determine selection.

“When we build national sides it is very, very important to identify players that can contribute to the coach’s game plan,” Senong tells Sport24.

“We obviously look for talented players and we believe that Ntshangase is very talented.

“It is just unfortunate that some PSL scouts haven’t realised that or that PSL coaches haven’t given him a chance but we know that with time that will happen.

“But that shouldn’t stop us from giving the boy an opportunity and bringing in a player that can help us achieve our tactical objectives.

“He is extremely talented, he’s got good ability to find spaces and a good touch on the ball and he has a good football brain,” Senong concludes.

With such a glowing reference it is no wonder that the Black Leopards striker is a wanted man by all the big PSL clubs.

Lidoda Duvha spokesperson Tshifhiwa Thidiela has insisted that the player is, however, not for sale this transfer window.
