Golden Arrows moved up to fourth place in the PSL standings with a 3-1 victory against Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven stadium on Friday.
Pule Mmodi and a Michael Gumede brace saw the visitors take maximum points and move three points ahead of Orlando Pirates on the table.
The home team gifted Arrows the lead in the 15th minute when defender Sibusiso Mthethwa failed to control a simple ball in the penalty area and Mmodi slotted past goalkeeper Sage Stephens.
Stellies almost hit back six minutes later but Stanley Dimgba shot straight at Arrows keeper Sifiso Mlungwana, who parried the ball away safely.
Abafana Bes'thende almost doubled their lead when a Knox Mutizwa effort was cleared off the line by Robyn Johannes with Stephens well beaten.
The KZN side were controlling proceedings and Stephens was again called into action on the half-hour mark to deny Gumede.
Arrows doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Mutizwa beat the offside trap and raced clear on the right wing, then squaring to Gumede to apply the finish.
The hosts needed some inspiration to get back into the contest and it came close to the hour mark when Junior Mendieta rifled in a brilliant long-range shot that Mlungwana had no chance of saving.
Just as Stellies thought they were back in the game, they were dealt a dagger in the heart as Gumede slotted past Stephens with 12 minutes remaining to make sure the visitors leave the Western Cape with all three points.
