Cape Town - Golden Arrows upset the apple cart when they beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu on Saturday.

Arrows were awarded a penalty in the 27th minute and Limbikani Mzava stepped up to shoot past Itumeleng Khune.

Three minutes later the hosts doubled their lead when another penalty allowed Mzava to claim a brace.

Leonardo Castro reduced the deficit for a shell-shocked Chiefs on the hour-mark with a close range finish at the near post.

Giovanni Solinas' men were now attacking with new vigour but the Arrows defence held firm.

Arrows' Musa Bilankulu was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card in the 90th minute but there was not enough time left for Chiefs to claim an equaliser.

Chiefs are sixth on the log standings, while Arrows moved up to 10th.
